The One Where the ravaj Becomes an Artefact

Imagine that this photo was a (rectangular) piece of Battenberg cake. Now look at the top right-hand quarter of the cake. It's a bit hard to see cos they are so tiny, but about two-thirds of the way down there are 5 framed objects in a row displayed on the wooden case. The one furthest to the right is a photograph of rav aj, and the 3 pics to the left of it are also connected with my #FourFourJew story. The Fourth Plinth

And the winner is ... NOT the sculpture of the Battenberg cake (which was, as you should know, my favourite option), but this blue cockerel, preceded by a boy of gold on a rocking horse of gold. The blue is most blue, and should stand out against the grey upon grey of Trafalgar Square. But come on, people! What's not to love about a giant piece of teacake? Grrrrr.

Some Day my Plinth Will Come

In Trafalgar Square in my home town there is a great big column with a sailor at the top, and some plinths at the corners supporting hagiographic statues of military leaders and a king. One of the plinths, however, is often empty, and has been the site for a variety of artistic projects.

Details of the latest contenders for the Fourth Plinth were released today. My favourite is pictured above - a diabetic's delight, which one may savour without risk. To find out about the others, have a look here. O I do love a nice piece of Battenberg!
