losing with honour

here is a lovely picture of dear old dexter blackstock (for the uninitiated, the team i love play mainly in blue and white hoops) in action last night at old trafford holding off the former england player gary neville. qpr lost, but were not humiliated. hurrah. not to mention burnley knocking out the scum at the bridge on penalties. hurrah again.

northampton 0-1 qpr

dexter celebrates scoring the only goal of the game as the 'r's play their second pre-season friendly up in northampton. passing through on the bus back from nottingham is the nearest i have ever been to the ground, but over 1k fans made their way up there to have a look at the new players, and maybe chalk up another stadium on their list in the now futile attempt to join the 92 club. ever the optimist, i say again that we did not lose. hurrah.

nb no idea who 11 is. will guess ledesma, but he's too new to recognise him from behind.

we woz mugged!

dexter scores @ hull, or does he?

a little action from saturday, if only to say that YET AGAIN in the 253rd minute of added on time qpr concede a goal and drop 2 points. somebody did the maths today and noted that if all our games had ended in the 89th minute, with the points we would have had we would be top of the division. *sigh*

on the other hand, well done mister em for mugging the chelski last night :-)

[and maybe we will not mention that tv replays proved the ball shown above did not really cross the line. sort of.]

qpr 2 - 2 preston north end

camp helps to keep us in the game

from all that i hear we were quite dire. akos is still out, and rowan is out for the season with a busted leg. just because we are safe now doesn't mean that we shouldn't be trying. *sigh* 0-2 down with 1 minute to go a lot of people had already gone home, after all, the new season of doctor who begins tonight. i learned my lesson in the early eighties never to leave early when we came back from 1-3 to win 4-3 against oldham i think it was. anyway, bring on wild thing as a sub and even though his legs just cannot do it any more, he has the will and he has the spirit and he dragged us back scoring one and assisting with the equaliser. which was in the 93rd minute. of a 90-minute match. nu - the most exciting thing i heard from the listee reports was that juzza got sir tom finney's autograph. wow!

ipswich 0-0 qpr

hogan is back, and w/o the ugly yellow boots!

ipswich have a great home record, and earlier in the season they would have demolished us. as it was, it appears we gave a good account of ourselves. the only downer from my perspective was that the teamsheet did not include buzsaky. o akos, my akos i posted to the qpr list. where was he? a listee who has as a room-mate a hungarian girl that knows akos said that he was in hungary for the week. and then said he was not. this mystery was more compelling than a scoreless game, alas. o well. we are content with a draw.

dexter does something

wolves 3-3 qpr

dex scores our penalty since rowly went off injured

i would have been extremely happy with a point before today's game up at molineux. however, having led 3 times, and having given away an equaliser in the 95th minute of a 90-minute game, i am not so happy. *sigh* about 6 games left in this season, and we are safe from the relegation that we feared when we were bottom some weeks ago. this is good. i should let go, be glad, and start worrying about the yanks and their pitching in the last season at the house that ruth built!

a rare good defensive moment - delaney tackles

bristol city 2-2 qpr

dexter loves the 'r's

and we love you too, mr. blackstock. the first game of the new season, the first goal of the new season, the sun is still shining, and we haven't lost yet! rangers' run of bad luck continues as the tummy upset ben sahar had this week turns out to be appendicitis and he will be out for 5 weeks. nevertheless, even though we went down 1-2 in the 90th minute (for non-footie fans, the game lasts 90 minutes), damion stewart equalised almost immediately. uuuuu rrrrr's!

and the yankees have the best record since the all-star break, and i found a parking space in brooklyn yesterday right next to the building i was going to enter, and poo poo poo/toi toi toi the sun is shining today as well.
